Eligibility Requirements
Am I Eligible?
To join MESA, you will need to meet a couple of requirements to confirm your eligibility.
If you are unsure about your eligibility, we encourage you to submit an interest form. We will then review your application and determine your eligibility.
Not Fully Eligible?
Students who are not fully eligible for MESA can join a Friends of MESA (FOM) cohort. To join a cohort, you must meet eligibility requirements in rows 3-7 and either row 1 or row 2 on the chart (see below). FOM applications are accepted on a limited basis because federal funds require the MESA program to consist of a majority of MESA students.

Academic Excellence Workshop
An academic excellence workshop (AEW) is a community of students working collaboratively to master course material with the guidance of a facilitator. The facilitator is a student that has excelled in STEM courses. The facilitator provides discussion among MESA students to enhance critical thinking, problem solving, and communication of the STEM course material covered during the AEW.
